BuildSkills Academy Charts Bold Path Forward at Naples Coordination Meeting

The BuildSkills Academy, a pioneering EU-funded initiative aimed at transforming vocational education in the construction sector, convened its General Coordination Meeting in Naples and online on May 19–20. Hosted by SFC, the event brought together representatives from 20 partner organizations across Europe, including Frontier Venture, to assess progress and shape the next phase of the project.

The meeting marked a pivotal moment for the BuildSkills Academy, which is developing a comprehensive framework for transitional skills in the built environment. Key highlights included:

Digital Innovation by the BuildSkills Academy in Vocational Training

A major focus was the finalization of the BESM Digital Tool, a platform designed of the BuildSkills Academy to support skills assessment and training delivery. Partners were encouraged to test the tool and contribute feedback, with a promotional video and media campaign in the pipeline. The tool integrates updates from ESCO and aligns with the European Commission’s Union of Skills initiative.

Curriculum Development and Certification

Twelve enriched course syllabi were finalized by , with validation underway through thematic group consultations. Certification processes are being refined, and discussions are ongoing about intellectual property rights and the potential for offering these courses to external VET providers under specific licensing models.

Buildskills Academy Pilot Programs and Masterclasses

Pilot testing of the new BuildSkills Academy courses will begin in November 2025 across six countries, targeting 300 professionals. Masterclasses, combining in-person and online formats, are also planned for 2026, offering advanced training opportunities and fostering cross-border collaboration.

Stakeholder Engagement and Outreach

The meeting emphasized the importance of stakeholder engagement. A new campaign will spotlight associated partners, and all members are tasked with expanding The BuildSkills Academy´s visibility through national media, social media, and participation in external events.

Sustainability and Future Vision

The BuildSkills Academy is laying the groundwork for long-term impact. A roadmap for adapting training to evolving labor market needs is in development, and a certification framework is being designed to ensure quality and recognition across Europe. The project also aims to embed its results within the broader ecosystem of vocational excellence.

Looking Ahead

The next coordination meeting is scheduled for 2026 in Cyprus. In the meantime, partners will continue refining deliverables, engaging stakeholders, and preparing for the rollout of pilot courses and certification schemes.
